NCU invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scientist - Physical Oceanographer and/or Ocean and Air-Sea Coupled Modeler:
National Central University (NCU) invites applications for a postdoctoral scientist position in the newly established Advanced Taiwan Ocean Prediction (ATOP) group at the Institute of Hydrological & Oceanic Sciences (IHOS). 
The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of research to understand ocean circulation and air-sea coupled processes through mathematical modeling and observational data analyses focusing on the North Pacific Ocean and the Western North Pacific Marginal Seas and coastal zones. The candidate must hold a PhD in physical science: physical oceanography, atmospheric science or equivalent; basic knowledge of geophysical fluid dynamics or fluid mechanics and some numerical modeling experience are desirable. The candidate is also expected to be familiar with basic data analysis techniques, with analysis tools such as MATLAB and/or IDL, and with FORTRAN. IHOS/ATOP is committed to rigorous research and learning, and NCU offers excellent opportunities for multi-disciplinary cross-collaboration with world-class scientists in biogeochemical oceanography, atmospheric and hydrological sciences and adaptive data analyses. We are looking for a candidate with a strong sense of independence and a curiosity and a natural keenness for learning and exploring new ideas. The successful candidate will be encouraged and expected to publish their scientific findings in international journals. She or he will work under the direction of Leo Oey; communication in English is expected. 
The Salary is based on the requirements of National Science Council, Taiwan
